Volunteers Help Food On The Move Prepare Farmland For Spring, Summer Crops

Some volunteers helped Food on the Move get ready to grow fresh food for those in need on Saturday.

The helpers spent the day cleaning up farmland so that the soil was ready for spring and summer crops.

Food on the Move says it's a joint effort with Church on the Move to grow local produce for the community.

"It's an exciting partnership so while they provide the land we provide all the resources and staffing to operate that," said Food on the Move CEO Kevin Harper. "It's great volunteer opportunity for people to not only help us to feed the community but learn about gardening."

Food on the Move says it harvested about 15,000 pounds of food last year for families in need.
