Tulsa Spirt Tours To Celebrate 21 Years With Special Birthday Bash

Tulsa’s very own ghost hunter has been telling ghost stories and researching Oklahoma’s rich history for 21 years through her organization Tulsa Spirit Tours.

The Owner and Founder of Tulsa Spirit Tours Teri French joined us on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch Porch to tell us a few ghost stories and how she’s planning to celebrate 21 years of Tulsa Spirit Tours.

What are Tulsa Spirit Tours? Tell us about your classes.

Tulsa Spirit Tours is a way to educate and entertain visitors and Tulsans alike on our history, urban legends, and folklore.

My desire is to keep it alive for future generations. My Metaphysic 101 classes started over 20 years ago at a little shop called "The Herbal Glen". I love teaching about metaphysics, Astrology, Tarot, and Dream Interpretation as its a path I have been studying and following since I was a teenager. It is my hope that it helps people enrich their life.

The Ghost Hunting 101 started about 15 years ago. I taught as an adjunct instructor at TU and then went out on my own to do the classes to make them a little cheaper. The Ghost Hunting 101 started because people frequently asked to join my investigations and this was a way to offer that and teach methods and procedures to help them attain the cleanest evidence possible.

What inspired you to open Tulsa Spirit Tours?

A friend. She said, "Teri, you have learned so much about the folklore and haunted history of Tulsa, you should do a ghost tour!" I thought that was a fun idea so I put it out there on Social Media but this was pre-Facebook and I advertised on MySpace. LOL That same friend also suggested I write a book and that led to "Tulsa's Haunted Memories" book that was published by Arcadia Publishing in 2010.

Has there been a memorable tour when something unexplained happened?

Gilcrease comes to mind because of the volume of 'experiences' there but we've had a few at different locations in the past 21 years. At the Tulsa Theater, the "ghost light" on the stage blew out with a loud 'pop' and glass went everywhere! The tour group screamed and ran out the back door. That was kind of freaky.

Tell us about the Birthday Bash!

On August 10, we're going to have the Tulsa Spirit Tours birthday bash, since we turn 21 on August 8th. I had a few businesses reach out to me in Sapulpa and I thought it would be fun to do a totally different and new tour for the birthday celebration. It's a 5-hour tour full of ghost stories, drinks, food, and merriment. It will include visits to haunted locations and we will seek out a couple of local urban legends.
