The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and AAA worked together to make sure people had food for a Thanksgiving meal.
Volunteers passed out 500 turkeys and meal boxes for those in need.
Rusty Wallace and his coworkers with AAA are focused on showing gratitude this Thanksgiving.
"The community is part of our family, so any way that we can get out and help the community and provide a good quality Thanksgiving meal is important," he said.
He says he knows holidays can be stressful financially and he wants to help where he can.
"They are going to have that relief that money that they may have spent on Thanksgiving they can put toward other things and some might not have had Thanksgivings, so this is a great way to give back and for them to enjoy time with their families," Wallace said.
Joy Ferrin with the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma says there's been a need in the area for food distributions this Thanksgiving.
"There's definitely a lot of demand in the community, we opened the registration and it filled up within three days, just getting the word out we are trying to serve the need where we can," she said.
She says if you weren't able to sign up for an upcoming distribution, you can still visit a local pantry through the food bank to get what you'll need for Thanksgiving.
It's a holiday meant to be shared together and Joy wants to make sure everyone has that chance.
"It's so meaningful, especially for a holiday that is around food and being grateful, to have a meal to come together with your loved ones around," she said.
