Senator Markwayne Mullin said Muskogee has the chance to be one of the fastest growing cities in the state.
The senator went to the Port of Muskogee on Tuesday to talk with the port staff and manufacturers about the chance for growth.
He said for industries looking for a place to start a business, Muskogee is a great option.
"You have water with our navigation channel, you have rail with BSNF and UP that can take it North, South, East, West, and you have access to interstates just about any direction you want to leave," he said.
Senator Mullin said the port is a hidden gem that hasn't been used to its full potential since the 1970s.
But in the future, Muskogee will have a chance to be an industrial hub with high paying jobs.
"You're seeing the city ready to grow, I think what we see Muskogee as, will be a totally different Muskogee 10 years from now," he said.
Senator Mullin said more and more businesses are setting up shop in Oklahoma, and the state has a chance for a great future.
"We're all in the same boat. We're all in the same direction of just trying to grow our state to provide generations like my kids, an opportunity to grow, work and expand their lives here without trying to leave the state," he said.
Senator Mullin also went to visit city leaders in Grove and Vinita.
