Recently-elected District 23 District Attorney David Hammer died Sunday after a reported heart attack, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Hammer was 50 years old.

Hammer won the District 23 election Tuesday with 58.2% of the vote, according to News 9 election results.
