A former patient is speaking out after a Broken Arrow man was charged with practicing dentistry without a license. Cheyenne Esser says she paid $500 to Mansoor Bhatti for dental work, only to find out he never had a license and only three days of schooling. Esser says she feels taken advantage of, violated and scammed.
"It said that he was a surgeon on his jacket. So you are wearing a white coat that people work very hard to earn. That was just very upsetting."
Esser says she found Mansoor Bhatti after getting several different opinions from oral surgeons about getting jaw surgery, then heard an ad for Bhatti on the radio. Esser says she had six appointments with Bhatti and it was red flag after red flag after red flag.
"He also told me if I had the jaw surgery, I would need to continue to get the jaw surgery, and I thought to myself, wait a second,” said Esser.
Esser says she knew Bhatti was fake when she called her insurance company who told her, they had never heard of Bhatti and he hadn't filed any claims. Then, Esser called the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry who said the same thing.
"Once I found out my heart just raced because I was thinking oh my goodness, this is like a Lifetime movie to me,” said Esser.
The Oklahoma Board of Dentistry investigated Bhatti for five months and arrested him this week. They say Bhatti has never had any type of medical, nursing, or dentist license.
"There's got to be more. I just truly believe that. Because you have a commercial, on the radio, that you pay for, to bring you business. I was one of those people, that led me to him." "I can't stress that enough, just do your research,” said Esser.
If there are any additional patients out there, they're asked to contact the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry at (405) 522-4844.
