OHP Troopers Identify Man Killed In Early Morning Crash In Cherokee County

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers have identified a driver who died after crashing their car into a group of trees early Monday morning.

According to troopers, 75-year-old Billy Tidwell, from Red Oak, Oklahoma, was traveling southbound on South 543 Road in Cherokee County around 12:32 a.m., when he failed to navigate a curve and drove off the left side of the road before hitting a group of trees. Troopers said Tidwell was pinned for an unknown amount of time.

Tidwell was flown to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where troopers say he died from injuries sustained in the crash at around 9:17 a.m. on Monday.

There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
