Former Mannford Officer Convicted Of Murder Requests New Trial

A former Mannford Police officer, convicted of murdering Chief Lucky Miller, has asked for a new trial.

Mike Nealey said prosecutors made inappropriate statements during the trial that prejudiced the jury. Investigators said Nealey and Miller got into a drunken fight while attending a law enforcement conference in Pensacola, Florida, in 2019.

The medical examiner testified Miller died from blunt force trauma and asphyxiation.

Nealey is scheduled to be sentenced in Escambia County, Florida on Thursday afternoon.
